Morses Club Loans paid out around £25million in compensation in the second half of 2020 compared to £2.5million in the same period last year. Morses Club said the increase in complaints came from claims management firms. Claims firms help people get compensation but also take a cut of the cash themselves if they are successful.15 Mar 2021

The regulator says that a loan is unaffordable if you couldn’t make the repayments without borrowing again. This could be borrowing from the same lender, from someone else, getting deeper into your overdraft or by not paying priority bills such as a utility bill.
So even if you always paid your Provident loan on time, it could still have been unaffordable.
If the lender should have realised the loan was unaffordable they should not have given it to you – that was irresponsible lending and you should get a refund.
Provident finance claims are here to help you get the redress you are due.
Recent rulings by the financial regulator now mean you could be eligible to submit a claim.
Join thousands of consumers across the UK who have received a full refund on all their provident loans.

Sometimes for reasons outside your control, you may be struggling with your repayments and have fallen into arrears. Under FCA rules, where there is an ongoing claim against a lender, then the lender must not keep asking for payment without providing clear justification or evidence as to why the claim is invalid.
Where possible you should always continue to make your contractual payments to the lender to ensure you do not miss any repayments as this could affect your credit rating.

From the day you complete a claim application form, you will be contacted shortly after by one of our partners who will work your complaint. You should receive a response via the claims management company from the lender/lenders to your complaint between 8 – 16 weeks.
If the lender rejects the claim, it may be that you are recommended to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman, in which case it may take anything from a few months to a year and even longer to resolve with complex claim refunds.
The complete process from submitting a claim to receiving a refund on average is between 6-18 weeks, however, please be advised this is a guide. No two compensation claims are the same and it’s as common a complicated claim may take 6 months to be fully paid out.
Do be aware of claims management companies offering “fast payouts” or not explaining the process fully. As experts, we want to be clear from the start and our partners will be nothing but honest and professional.
All Claims Management companies acting on behalf of a consumer must follow the same procedure, and therefore time scales, please be aware, no claims management company is in control of the time it takes for the lender, FCA, or FOS to reply.

Provident provides cash loans from £100-£1,000, delivered to your door, known as Doorstep Loans. Provident is a trading name of Provident Personal Credit Limited which was incorporated in February 1917, and they are based in Bradford, England. They are part of the Provident Financial Group who also provides Credit Cards and Vehicle Finance.
The weekly repayments, like the cash loan, are collected weekly from your home.
Their loans have an extremely high-interest rate. For example, on their website they state that a representative loan might be:
£260 loan over 26 weeks. 26 payments of £15.60 per week. Rate of interest 112% p.a. fixed. Representative 535.3% APR. Total amount payable £405.60.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has a certain set of criteria rules that govern lenders like Morses Club. The Government Watchdog are there to protect vulnerable borrowers and to ensure lenders are acting responsibly.
Lenders should not lend money if the loan means the borrower will struggle to pay day-to-day bills or needs to borrow more money to keep up with the repayments.
For example:
- Was the loan Provident granted to you unaffordable?
- Did the loan have excessive charges like high interest and charges?
- Did Provident suggest that the loan was unaffordable but still went ahead?
- Did Provident fail to ask about all your other existing debts?
If you answer yes to any of the above, you may have a Morses Club Loan Claim.
Morses Club may not have carried out all of the appropriate affordability checks. They also should have checked your credit record and come to a decision based on all of the facts.
If they did not, you may have been sold a loan that was unsuitable. If this is the case, you can potentially claim compensation with the help of Reclaims Online.
